TRACY ANNE WRIGHT (Principal / Musical Director) - Right of Picture
Tracy started singing lessons at the age of 9 after being ‘spotted’ in a school performance. She soon discovered her love of music and started developing her studies further on Piano and Clarinet. She decided to take her singing more seriously when she was awarded the Alcester Singers Young Musician of the Year award in 1987 which included an award for advanced Singing Tuition at the Birmingham Conservatoire. She then achieved her Grade VIII Singing (Trinity College London), Grade VIII Voice (ABRSM) and Advanced Certificate in Singing (ABRSM).
After sixth Form she accepted a place on the College Diploma Course at the City of Leeds College of Music as a first study singer and second study pianist where she was also awarded the Leeds Musical Soirees Prize for Singing (1992 & 1993) and the Douglas Robinson Memorial Prize for Opera (1993). In 1993 she continued her studies at the UCE & Birmingham Conservatoire, Graduating with her B.Ed Music Qualified Teacher Status in 1995 and the Jane Crawford Memorial Prize for Achievement in Secondary Education from the University of Central England.
Tracy spent 6 years as a Classroom Teacher of Music at the Kingshurst City Technology College, Birmingham and left her position in 2001 to set up her own Private Teaching Practice and pursue her career as a peripatetic Singing Teacher in schools around Worcestershire, Warwickshire & Birmingham. Alongside her Vocalize Performing Arts Academy business she is now the Full Time Permanent Teacher of Music & Performing Arts at Tudor Grange Academy Redditch, teaching key stage 3,4 & 5.
Tracy has always had a passion for Musical Theatre and wanted to open a local Performing Arts Centre as soon as she completed her studies. In 2009 that Dream became a reality when she opened ‘VOCALIZE PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMY’ starting with a few of her local singing students on a Saturday morning. After a very short time the numbers increased and there was a demand for Drama and Dance. By May 2010 Tracy had welcomed a team of tutors to join Vocalize including her ‘Assistant Principal’ Chloe who is now a very close friend.
Tracy continues to perform and take to the stage as a soloist including taking the role of ‘Mrs Potts’ in the ROS production of Beauty and the Beast and she was invited as guest soloist to close the Centenary Celebrations at the Palace Theatre in 2013 hosted by Don Maclean. She was a soloist for many years with the Oakville Singers Cathedral Choir, singing both home and abroad in some of the most prestigious venues including Westminster Abbey, St Pauls Cathedral & Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. She has also been booked to sing at many weddings and special occasions.
Tracy has lead a very ‘Musical’ Career so far but she considers her biggest achievement to be the birth of her four Beautiful Children Callum, Lauren, Lewis & Harry and of course her marriage to her Husband & Best Friend Neil xxx
Chloe has been performing since a very young age and has taken principal and chorus roles in many local productions at The Palace Theatre Redditch and Solihull Arts Complex. Chloe achieved her LAMDA exams up to gold medallion and teacher’s award, ‘A level’ Drama and Musical Theatre and gained her Qualified Teacher Status in July 2006. Chloe joined Vocalize in Sept 2010 and hasn't looked back since ( or been busier ) with Vocalize going from strength to strength alongside her performing arts day nursery. Chloe is also a training provider offering Childcare qualifications and is pleased to be able to Offer Childcare courses to our Vocalize staff and Senior Students aged 16 +. Chloe really enjoys her work with the Vocalize Company and is very proud of the high standards that the students produce.
CASSIE RIVETT - CHOREOGRAPHER
Cassie graduated from The University of Birmingham with a BA hons in dance and theatre arts. Since then she has been teaching dance and p.arts in secondary education for 15 yrs. Cassie also enjoys performing herself and is a member of redditch and studley operatic society and the cabaret group applause. She has choreographed and directed many of her own shows, such as we will rock you, sweet charity, little shop of horrors and beauty and the beast to name but a few. Cassie has enjoyed being welcomed into the vocalize team, it is a real family feel and so much fun. She is so proud of all the students involved and has loved working with them .
GEORGINA PEARCE - TUTOR
Georgie has had a love of performing from an early age. She has completed numerous dance grades with IDTA achieving up to and including intermediate ballet, modern, tap & theatre craft at grade 5 and gold bar 1 freestyle and street dance. Georgie has danced alongside a number of industry professionals including Pasha Kovalev from Strictly Come Dancing and recently performed in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth games handover ceremony. Furthermore she performed in the professional pantomime at the Palace Theatre for 6 consecutive years from 2008 - 2014. Georgie also has a love for singing and has achieved up to and including grade 8 singing. Currently Georgie is studying for a law degree at university.
LUCY TRAVES - TUTOR
Lucy has had a love for performing from a young age, when she found her voice and confidence with Indigo Arts at the age of nine. While being part of this group for ten years she was lucky enough to have the opportunity to experience the Edinburgh Fringe Festival twice as a performer, playing the role of ‘Ann’ in Indigo’s original production of ‘Eye of a Needle’ and the lead role of ‘Ashey’ in the Cinderella style musical, ‘Ashes and Blood’. Lucy’s most recent role was ‘Ronnette’ in Indigo’s production of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ which took place in a pop-up theatre in Redditch town centre.
Lucy has also played roles such as ‘Sandy’ in ‘Grease’ as well as ‘Lefou’ in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ as part of her school productions. Lucy first worked with Vocalize Performing Arts Academy playing roles such as ‘Motormouth Maybelle’ in ‘Hairspray’ and ‘Elle Woods’ in ‘Legally Blonde’.
SOPHIE PRICE - TUTOR
After studying ‘Drama and Performance’ for a year at the University of Worcester, Sophie was accepted into Birmingham School of Acting to study Applied Performance, which has been a dream of hers from a young age. It was originally dance which made her fall in love with performing when she joined the Gemini Dance school and achieved up to the Presidents Award in Ballroom, Latin, Freestyle and Slow. Sophie has been taking singing lessons for a few years following her studies in BTEC Performing Arts and Music. With Vocalize she has performed in the productions of ‘Hairspray’ and ‘Legally Blonde’, playing the leading role of ‘Tracy Turnblad’ and then ‘Vivienne Kensington’.
PAULA LILBURN - TUTOR
Paula has been a member of Vocalize since 2010 and has recently joined the team of tutors to support our youngest members. Paula has been involved in many Vocalize shows and played a number of enjoyable roles including her favourite part as 'Amber' in Hairspray. She has also been cast in Legally Blonde, Back to the 80s, Miss Saigon to name a few. Her favourite memory was performing with Vocalize on stage at Her Majesties Theatre in the West End. She has achieved her Grade 8 Rock and Pop Singing qualification and she is currently enjoying studying Performing Arts A level.
